Pour ma part, j'ai bien aimé le premier film et beaucoup moins les deux autres (trop orientés "bastons" et faisant fi du reste).

Mais je crains que l'on ne s'égare les enfants en parlant des films... :)

Allez, j'ai remis à jour le post avec toutes les questions : 2 nouvelles entrées.

Non je n ai pas vu les versions longues...
mais bon ,meme si forcement cela doit rajouter un peu de fil a l intrigue(massacrée,notamment dans "Les deux tours"),je doute que les scenes ont été refaites...et les scenes ridicules abondent dans le film (notamment les intervention de legolas ,assez consternante)
De plus,je trouve la musique completement ratée....
fin bon,c un autre sujet,et ca n as pas d interet dans parler ici.

Je fais remonter le topic.

Le jeu est-il toujours prévu pour cet été? Si oui, pour quand?

J'ai demandé chez Tilsit s'il était exact que le jeu allait être repoussé, comme le voulait la rumeur, et ils m'ont laconiquement répondu qu'écouter les rumeurs, c'était mauvais pour la santé... :(
La santé de Tilsit, probablement, dans la mesure où ces rumeurs se confirment presque toujours lorsqu'ils sont concernés :twisted:

Shipping dates
I see on some of the photos that the game is shipping in September. Question for the designers--do you know if that means it will be shipping in the US in September, or if it will be shipping worldwide in September? Is it possible it will be shipping earlier in other coutries?

As far as I know, the French edition should ship first, followed by the first batch of the US shipment (with copies in time for GenCon). Since by 'shipping' I mean from the printer to the companies selling the game, early September is cautious but probably realistic.
So, in France it should be available earlier then in other countries, followed by the English-speaking countries first.

It is a possibility... or maybe it is due to that Golden Goal vs Italy during the previous European Cup... :D

Anyway, just to confirm my previous statement, the French edition is going to be published first, and the game should be distributed in early August in France.

And to dismiss some early concerns here, our action dice system has nothing to do with Memoir '44. In MM'44 the iconic dice are used to resolve combat (as in the old Battle Master), while our dice give you your strategic 'menu' for the turn, where every icon can be used in different ways. It can be compared to the system used in card-driven games like Hannibal or We the People, where you can do actions choosing from the options given you by you hand of cards (here you choose from your set of die results). And in MM'44 the scale of play is tactical, while War of the Ring is a strategic level game.

Regarding the rules for the game, I can say that the game is fairly complex, but due to the combination of a lot of different elements (the hunt for the Ring, the hidden movement of the Fellowship, the presence of heroes and minions, the combat system, sieges, the political track, and so on...). The learning curve is eased a bit by an introductory set of rules, 4 pages long, that explains the basics for the game with a simple gaming experience.

Regarding the appeal to the movies fans, I think that LotR Risk is what they are looking for. Our game introduces many differences that will be familiar only to fans of the books, like many events relating to facts that the movies didn't portray, and the wider look at things (like the fate of the various 'distant' nations, like the Dwarves, during the war).

Of course, I hope that the game will be so well received that everybody interested in the subject will make the extra effort needed to appreciate the full set of rules.

Je pense. Officiellement, Tilsit dit fin aout. Le 15 me semble un peu. Il faudra surement compter 1 ou 2 semaines de plus.

I hope not. On the 19th of August the English edition of the game will debut at GenCon Indianapolis, US. The French edition will go in print BEFORE the English edition. This should mean that the French edition will be available about early August, at least. But maybe I am too optimistic... :?
